Jan Hurley lives and works in Oklahoma where she portrays members of her ranching family, good friends, ranch stock and ranchland scenes. Known for her intricate cross hatching with color pencil, she has changed her medium to oil paint to achieve a more colorful look. After many years of working full time in graphic art, she has become a full time painter and has the opportunity to take on some commissioned work. Jan has illustrated several covers for national horse / cowboy magazines, such as Western Horseman. In 1997 she was honored as Cowboy Artist of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists. She has participated in the Trappings of the American West in Flagstaff, AZ, the Cowboy Classics in Phoenix, AZ, the Haley Library Show in Midland, TX, and The Gathering in Dripping Springs, TX. She has sold work at Settlers West Gallery in Tucson, AZ and NanEtte Richardson Fine Art in San Antonio, TX. |
